  • count: the number of elements to return.
  • start: (optional) the position within the array from which to start counting. If omitted, the function will start counting from the first element of the array.

Here is an example of using the TAKE function to extract the first 2 columns and 3 rows from a list of numbers:

How to Take a Portion of an Array in Excel

This would return the array with 1st 3 rows and 2 columns. Note that the TAKE function returns a dynamic array that automatically spills into neighboring cells if the output is larger than a single cell.
